1RDG Helps Navigate M&A Deal
Written by John Rizzo
The client was looking to purchase a business and needed help navigating the entire process. We interacted with this account in the past and had continued to form connections with them throughout the years.
A member of our wealth team introduced us to the individual who was looking to buy the business from the account we worked on in the past. She wanted to purchase the business but needed guidance on how to do so and how to tackle all that comes along with it.
“In the third year, we were still providing all the same services to the client but added payroll and WOTC.”
We gave the client the 1RDG experience. First, our consulting team stepped in to work with her on plans to buy the business. At the time, we did not know where this relationship would lead or if any other opportunities would arise from the initial opportunity, but regardless we put everything in with our best foot forward.
In the first year with the client, the M&A deal closed and was successful. We were competing with another firm initially but were able to out-service them. We helped the client organize their books by providing OAS work. We started doing personal tax returns and tax planning for the client.
In the second year, we were still doing M&A consulting, OAS, tax returns, and tax planning, but we added on wealth management, audit, and 401k planning services. Every group in the firm worked with the client within the second year of taking them on.
In the third year, we were still providing all the same services to the client but added payroll and WOTC. This was possible with our 1RDG way of brainstorming, teamwork, conducting engagement team meetings, and all coming together as one.
As a result of the engagement, the client has now been working closely with us for four years. We have continued to provide her with all the guidance and services she needs. This is what it means to do things the 1RDG way. We stay in touch with our clients, build relationships, sit down with them, and see how they are doing. We ask what their endgame is and what they would like to accomplish. We ask how we can help them with their bigger picture. The client has expressed her gratitude for the support in growing with her company side-by-side with the 1RDG Financial Firm.
