About Lori
Lori is a Senior Manager in our Audit Division. Originally from Binghamton, New York, Lori obtained her B.S. in Accounting from Nova-Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and began her public accounting career in 1994 with Grant Thornton’s South Florida audit practice.
Lori has been a licensed CPA in New York State since 2003. Her 25+ years of public accounting experience has primarily been in audit and attest services for clients in industries including non-profit organizations and single audits, employee benefit plans, manufacturing, broker/dealers, financial services, construction contractors and real-estate entities. She also has tax preparation and advisory experience including Form 990 for exempt organizations. Part of Lori’s experience has been in the area of CPA firm quality control and peer review. She performs peer reviews and quality control consulting for other CPA firms and peer reviewers, and is currently a review captain in the AICPA’s peer review program.
Lori has served in a governance role for numerous non-profit organizations over the years including the Child Care Council of Orange County(NY), was a founding board member and Treasurer of the Orange County Arts Council, was a Trustee and Vice-Chair for the Good Shepherd Fairview Foundation(Binghamton, NY), is a past President of the Southern Tier Chapter of the NYSSCPA, has been a Trustee and served as Secretary for the NYSSCPA’s Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE). Currently, Lori serves on the Quality Control and Peer Review Committee for the NYSSCPA, and is a current member of the NYSSCPA, PICPA and the AICPA.
Outside of accounting and auditing, Lori likes to attend live music and sporting events, is an avid Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns fan, and is a now-retired roller derby player for various competitive teams, most recently Queen City Roller Derby in Buffalo, NY where she was known as “Silver A. Sassin.”
